Log food manually, with fewer guesses.

You can use EatStride without connecting Gmail. Begin with one meal and a portion you can describe. The goal is a useful record, not a perfect one.

1. Find the closest food

Search by the food or product name. If a packaged item has a nutrition label, compare the brand, serving size and calories with the result before selecting it. Similar names can have different ingredients and portions.

2. Check the portion you actually ate

A database entry may describe a cup, package, piece or weight. Change the amount to match what you ate. If a restaurant meal was shared, record your portion rather than the full order. When you cannot measure it, make a reasonable estimate and treat the result as approximate.

3. Review before confirming

Check the food name, portion, calories and protein in the draft. Correct anything obvious before adding it to your day. A food saved to your at-home list is not a food eaten; log it only when you consume it.

4. Make the next time easier

Save foods you eat often and reuse them with a fresh portion check. Package sizes and recipes change, so revisit the label occasionally. If you need to correct a prior entry, use the food log rather than creating a second entry.

What if the exact food is missing?

Use an item with a similar ingredient and preparation, or enter known package nutrition when available. Note the uncertainty instead of treating a precise-looking number as certain.

Nutrition estimates are for everyday planning and can differ from the food you ate. For individualized nutrition or medical questions, consult a qualified professional. Next: plan the rest of your day →
